Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio-Josh Fellhauer drilled a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Dayton Dragons a 4-3 lead on the way to a 6-3 victory over the Beloit Snappers on Monday night at Fifth Third Field. The win gave the Dragons their first home series sweep of the 2009 season as they won all three games in the set.

The Dragons trailed 3-2 in the seventh when Jordan Wideman started the inning with a base hit. Wideman went to second on a sacrifice bunt. Fellhauer, a 2009 seventh round draft pick by the Cincinnati Reds out of Cal State-Fullerton, had hit his first professional home run on Sunday night. He drilled a 1-1 pitch over the right field fence to give the Dragons a 4-3 lead.

Dayton added two more runs in the eighth inning, getting a pair of run-scoring singles by Mike Konstanty and Miguel Rojas to build their lead to 6-3.

Mark James recorded the final four outs for Dayton for his second save. James struck out Jeffrey Lanning with two men on base in the ninth to end the game.

Dragons starting pitcher Curtis Partch (7-7) won his third straight start and saw his consecutive inning scoreless streak extend to 19, the longest of the year for a Dayton pitcher, before he allowed three runs in the fifth inning. Partch worked seven innings, allowing six hits and three runs with one walk and six strikeouts.

The Dragons got to Beloit starting pitcher Liam Hendriks for two runs in the first inning. Andrew Means drilled a double down the left field line, stole third, and scored on a drive off the left field fence by Carlos Mendez. Mendez scored on a bloop single to right by Cody Puckett to make it 2-0.

Beloit scored three times against Partch in the fifth, keyed by a two-run home run by Michael Harrington, his fourth homer of the year, to take a 3-2 lead. Neither team scored again until Fellhauer's homer in the seventh.

Dayton finished with 12 hits. Fellhauer, Mendez, and Puckett each collected two. Fellhauer extended his hitting streak to 12 straight games, the longest of the year for Dayton and tied for the seventh longest in franchise history.

The Dragons (10-14, 38-56) do not play on Tuesday. They begin a six-game road trip in Appleton, Wisconsin on Wednesday against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (12-11, 46-47) at 8:05 p.m. J.C. Sulbaran (2-2, 5.12) or Oscar Castro (2-3, 7.14) will start for Dayton.
