South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend, IN - In conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the South Bend Silver Hawks have announced that RHP T.J. Hose has been promoted to high-A Visalia and OF Alfredo Marte has been activated from the disabled list.
Hose has been dominant in the closer role for South Bend, converting 11 of 12 opportunities. The right hander has pitched in 27 games for the Silver Hawks, compiling a 3-2 record and a team best 1.70 ERA. In 37.0 innings, Hose has allowed 24 hits, while striking out 43 and walking only 12. Hose has not allowed a run in his last 11.1 innings and was a Midwest League All-Star this season.
Marte was placed on the disabled list on July 14th with a strained left shoulder, and the move was made retroactive to July 11th. After missing just over a week of action, Marte will be active for tonight's game and is in the starting lineup against the Burlington Bees. An outfielder from the Dominican Republic, Marte leads the team with 44 RBIs this season. He is batting .264 with three home runs.
The South Bend roster currently stands at 25 active players plus one on the disabled list. The Midwest League limit is 25 active players.
The Silver Hawks are in action on a Dollar Monday at the Cove tonight at 7:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the Coveleski Stadium Box Office or online at www.silverhawks.com.
