Springfield Falcons News Release

Hartford, CT - Nicklas Treutle registered his second consecutive shutout with 36 saves in a 2-0 victory against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday night.

The teams skated scoreless for a majority of the first period with the Falcons unable to convert on their two power plays. Alex Grant eventually gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead with 3:33 left in the period. Michael Bunting picked up his first professional point by assisting on the goal. Bunting gained entry into the zone and fed Grant with a pass at the point. The defenseman fired home his fourth of the season with a slap shot. Philip Samuelsson also assisted on the goal.

Hartford tested Treutle with 21 shots during the period but the Falcons netminder stopped all the scoring chances to hold the game to a 1-0 Falcons lead heading into the third period.

The third period remained scoreless until the closing minutes when Hartford pulled goaltender Mackenzie Skapski. Lucas Lessio broke up a play at center ice to score on the empty net with 1:09 left and give the Falcons a 2-0 victory. Treutle improved to 4-2-0 while Skapski fell to 1-3-0 with 20 saves.

The Falcons return home for a pair of games tomorrow night and Sunday night at the MassMutual Center. Saturday, the Falcons play the Albany Devils at 7 p.m. The weekend concludes with a 5 p.m. contest against the Portland Pirates that features the Friendly's free post-game skate.
