Albany Devils Set Franchise Record in 4-0 Victory against Binghamton
November 27, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Albany Devils News Release
ALBANY, NY - A dominating defensive performance backed by a strong offensive attack is a dangerous combination. The Binghamton Senators were up against both as the Albany Devils cruised to a 4-0 victory Friday at Times Union Center. Albany set a franchise record allowing just six shots on goal.
The Devils defense limited the Senators to one shot in the first, four in the second and one in the third. They broke the previous record, which was 13 shots against on Mar. 16, 2014 against the Syracuse Crunch.
Yann Dann was essentially gifted his 23rd career AHL shutout and third of the season. He now ranks second in the league with a 1.78 goals-against average and tied for second for shutouts.
Offensively, Reid Boucher, Corey Tropp, Matt Lorito, and Paul Thompson each had multiple-point performances. Boucher and Tropp both had a goal and an assist, and Lorito and Thompson had a pair of helpers. Mike Sislo netted his team-leading 11th goal and Brandon Burlon scored his first of the season.
Lorito set up Sislo for the first tally just 3:05 into the contest and Tropp followed with the team's league-leading 21st power-play goal - also assisted by Lorito - at 18:20.
Albany added two more tallies in the second period. Boucher scored his eighth goal of the season at 4:19 and Burlon capped the scoring at 6:38.
The Devils, who outshot the Senators 32-6, went 1-6 on the power play en route to their 11th win of the season. Albany improved to a franchise best 11-4-3-0. Binghamton moved to 5-11-2-0.
Next up, the Devils travel to face the Springfield Falcons Saturday for a 7 pm contest. Fans can follow the action online at ahllive.com.
