Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, MA â The Springfield Falcons and Tampa Bay Lightning announced today that center Alexander Svitov has been assigned to the Springfield Falcons. Svitov will be in the lineup when the Falcons host the Albany River Rats on Friday and Worcester IceCats on Saturday. The Falcons and Lightning also announced the signing of defenseman Corey Foster to a Professional Tryout Agreement.
Svitov is in his first professional season and started the season with the Lightning collecting one assist in 11 games played. Svitov spent the 2001-02 season in a military dispute over playing rights that limited him to three games for OMSK in the Russian Elite League. He also collected three points in five games with Russia at the World Junior Championships last season.
The 6-foot-3, 217-pound native of Omsk, Russia, was the Lightning's 1st choice (3rd overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Foster will join the Falcons on Saturday when they host the Worcester IceCats at 7:35 PM. He joins the Falcons after spending the 2001-02 season in Germany playing for the Berlin Capitals collecting four points in 35 games played.
Foster started his pro career with the New Jersey Devils after being selected by New Jersey with their 1st pick (12th overall) in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. Foster set a career high for goals (21), assists (37), and points (58) in a season while with the Hershey Bears during the 1993-94 campaign. Foster collected 10 or more goals and had 40 or more points for three straight years from 1993-1996.
The 6-foot-3, 204-pound native of Ottawa, Ontario has played in 364 career AHL games collecting 202 points. Foster has also played in 45 career NHL games recording 11 points.
------------
The Springfield Falcons also announced today that center Mike Harder has been released from his Professional Tryout Agreement. Harder played in one game for the Falcons not registering a point. Harder was signed to a PTO on October 28, 2002.
The Falcons return to action this weekend when they play host to the Albany River Rats on Friday and Worcester IceCats on Saturday. Game time for both games will be 7:35 PM.
