Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Thursday announced that goaltender Joey MacDonald has been recalled by the Detroit Red Wings.
In three games with the Griffins this season, the 22-year-old MacDonald owns a 1-2-0 record with a 2.67 GAA and a 0.908 save percentage. MacDonald is expected to serve as the Red Wings' backup tonight when the Boston Bruins visit Joe Louis Arena at 8:00 p.m.
The Griffins, who will face the Houston Aeros at 8:00 p.m. at the Compaq Center, have signed Houston native Eddy Rice as their backup goaltender for tonight's contest.
