Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons won their fifth straight game, and extended their unbeaten streak to six, with a 5-2 win over the Phoenix RoadRunners on Friday in front of a season-high 10,669 fans at Save Mart Center.
P.O. Beaulieu gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead with his seventh goal of the season 9:52 into the first period. Josh Ciocco's initial shot was stopped by goaltender Cody Rudkowsky, but Beaulieu raced in from the blue line and was able to chip a shot over Rudkowsky's glove to put Fresno on the board.
Mike Ramsay doubled the lead with a penalty-shot goal at 18:16. Ramsay was awarded the penalty shot after he was hooked from behind on a breakaway attempt. Ramsay skated to the hash marks, and beat Rudkowsky with a wrist shot on the glove side.
Fresno extended the lead to 3-0 7:04 into the second period. Oren Eizenman fed Matt Stefanishion in the left-wing circle, and he one-timed a shot into an open net for his seventh of the year.
Ramsay added his second of the night at 10:20 to make it 4-0. Ramsay raced into the Phoenix zone, made a move on Rudkowsky, and stuffed a shot home on the far post.
Phoenix got on the board 12:21 into the second period with a power-play goal from Chris Murray, and then pulled within two heading into the final period as Ryan Walsh converted on a breakaway at 16:43.
Jarrett Konkle gave the Falcons some breathing room 1:33 into the final period, beating Rudkowsky for his 16th goal of the season, and giving Fresno a 5-2 lead.
