Doig signs AHL Contract

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Jan. 12, 2008)-Inferno center Tyler Doig has signed an American Hockey League contract with the Toronto Marlies, Inferno head coach and director of hockey operations Troy Mann announced today.

Doig, 21, has 28 points (six goals, 22 assists) and 29 penalty minutes in 35 games during his first professional season this year. The 6-foot, 180-pounder will be the Inferno's lone representative to the ECHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, Jan. 23 in Stockton, Calif.

Prior to turning pro, Doig had 170 points (70 goals, 100 assists) and 201 penalty minutes in 196 career regular season Ontario Hockey League games with the Barrie Colts, Guelph Storm, and Belleville Bulls from 2003-04 through 2006-07. The Seaforth, Ontario native also has 25 points (six goals, 19 assists) and 20 penalty minutes in 34 career OHL playoff games.

The Inferno return to the Carolina Coliseum on Friday, Jan. 18 to host the Texas Wildcatters for NASCAR Night. SPRINT Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson's showcar and Jeff Gordon's race simulator will be on hand for the game, and all fans wearing NASCAR gear will receive $3 off their tickets.
