Lynx Win 4-1 In Delayed Start

BILOXI, MS - The Augusta Lynx stopped the Mississippi Sea Wolves winning streak at five, defeating the Sea Wolves 4-1 at the James Brown Arena in Augusta, Georgia on Saturday evening.

After a two hour and eight minute delay due to poor ice conditions, the game finally got underway at 9:18 p.m. Augusta got on the board early when Louis Goulet found the back of the net on the rebound of a blocked shot at the 6:11 mark of the first period. Chase Trull answered back for Mississippi at 16:16 of the first, one-timing a pass from Torry Gajda past Augusta's Bobby Goepfert. Augusta regained the lead when Aaron Slattengren tipped Brian Yandle's shot past Cey at 19:33 of the first.

Augusta added a shorthand goal in the third period when Matt Christie pushed a loose puck past the Mississippi defense, Geoff Peters grabbed the loose disk and beat Morgan Cey to the glove side at 7:19 of the third period. Augusta added an insurance goal when Matt Auffrey hammered home a back-door pass from Slattengren at 10:54 of the third.

Mississippi was 0-for-3 on the power play, and Morgan Cey made 32 saves to earn the loss.
