ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Former Ace Ryan MacMurchy, having forced overtime with 28 seconds left Wednesday, scored his second goal of the night 59 seconds into OT Friday, lifting Stockton to a 4-3 victory over Alaska before 4,314.

The Thunder had rallied from deficits of 2-0 and 4-2 with five minutes left in regulation to steal a 5-4 win two nights earlier. Friday, MacMurchy tipped in a drive from the point at 10:22 of the first period to give Stockton the edge, and although the Aces would tie the game three times, the Thunder never trailed. Matt Robinson scored the first of Alaska's three power play goals at 13:16 to deadlock the contest, but David Rohlfs, who scored the OT winner Wednesday, scored the first of his two goals exactly 90 seconds later to push Stockton back in front, 2-1, after the opening 20 minutes.

Josh Soares, returned to the Aces by their AHL affiliate in Peoria earlier this week, scored the first of his two power play goals to forge a 2-2 tie with 7:35 remaining in the second period. The game remained tied until the 12:07 mark of the final frame when Rohlfs nudged in a rebound, but Soares created the need for overtime less than two minutes later with a one-timer from the right circle. The winner came when MacMurchy drove the net from the left wing and slipped a wrist shot past Alaska starter Kris Tebbs, who finished with 25 saves.

Peter Metcalf assisted on all three goals and newly anointed assistant captain Olivier Filion had two helpers for the Aces, who have lost four overtime games to the Thunder (16-16-2), but are 3-0 in OT against the rest of the league. Early Friday, defenseman Matt Shasby, an assistant since the 2006 playoffs, was named captain and Vladimir Novak (like Filion a member of the Aces dating to 2004) took over as an assistant captain.

Alaska has won just one game in regulation over its last 11 but still has a winning record (4-3-4) over that span and remains just five points out of the West Division lead at 18-11-5 overall heading into tomorrow night's series finale against Stockton at 7:15 p.m. All regular season games are broadcast live on Alaska's flagship station, AM 750 KFQD, with coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off.
