Royals Sign Graig Mischler

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that the organization has signed forward Graig Mischler. In a separate transaction, the Royals also acquired defenseman Steve Later from the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL for future considerations.

Mischler (6'3"/210) (29), a sixth year pro who currently works full-time in New York City, last played pro when he joined the Royals for two temporary stints in the 2005-06 season. An eighth round pick of the Vancouver Canucks in 1998, Mischler played two full seasons with the Royals (2003-05) and registered twenty-five goals and ninety-five assists (120 points) in 128 games over that span. In his most recent stints with Reading during the 2005-06 season, Mischler, who played his college hockey at Northeastern University, scored two goals and assisted on another in five games with the Royals.

Later (6'4"/200 lbs) (23) scored six goals and assisted on eight others and registered sixty-five penalty minutes in twenty-one games with Bakersfield. Last season, Later, who hails from Winnipeg, Manitoba, registered seventeen points (7g-10a) and 152 penalty minutes in forty-three games with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. In his rookie season, 2005-06, Later racked up seven goals and assisted on fourteen others (twenty-one points) and picked up 176 penalty minutes in forty-games with the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Later, who played 139 games in the Western Hockey League during his junior career, also played eleven AHL games with the Toronto Marlies in 2005-06.

It is expected that Mischler will be in the lineup when the Royals return to action tonight against the Johnstown Chiefs who visit the Sovereign Center for the first time this year. The organization will induct Jon Francisco into the Reading Eagle Wall of Honor, and the first 200 fans will receive a Royals' poster courtesy of the Reading Eagle. The game night broadcast tonight will kick off with the pre-game warm up show at 6:35 pm on ESPN Radio 1240 in Ephrata, as well as on the internet through the Royals website (www.royalshockey.com). Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
