Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons dropped their third consecutive game on Friday, falling to the Idaho Steelheads 3-2 in front of 5,423 fans at Save Mart Center.
The Falcons broke a scoreless tie 11:50 into the second period. Colin Shields feathered a pass to the top of the crease for Vince Macri who was able to jam a shot past Idaho goaltender John Daigneau for his second goal of the season.
But, the Steelheads came back to even the score less than three minutes later at 14:41. Tuomas Mikkonen skated into the right-wing circle and beat Scott Stirling with a quick shot off of the backhand for his fifth tally of the year.
Greg Rallo gave the Steeleheads the lead 1:51 into the third period as he took a pass on the far post and snuck a shot over Stirling's glove for his fourth goal of the season.
Rallo added his second of the night at 7:05, finishing off a pretty passing play between himself, Derek Nesbitt, and Marty Flichel.
Fresno pulled back within one at 14:41, getting a power-play goal off of the stick of Cory Murphy.
