Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Falcons assistant captain Luke Curtin has been named the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 24 - Oct. 30, marking the first time in the team's three seasons in the league that a Fresno player has earned such an accolade.

Curtin notched the league's first four-goal game of the season last Friday in Fresno's 5-2 defeat of the Long Beach Ice Dogs. He scored a power play goal, an unassisted goal, the game-winning goal, and added an assist in the five-point, break-out performance. He tied a Falcons team record with his four tallies, becoming the eighth player in the club's 11-year professional history to accomplish the feat. Curtin then scored an unassisted, shorthanded goal and added two assists in Fresno's 7-6 shootout loss to the Idaho Steelheads on Saturday.

The eight-point week propelled the former fifth round draft choice of the Colorado Avalanche into a tie for second in the ECHL with five goals and a tie for third in scoring with 10 points (5g-5a). His 27 shots on goal through five games are also second most in the league. All three totals pace the Falcons.

Last season, Fresno goaltenders Jamie Hodson and Brett Jaeger were once named ECHL Goaltender of the Week and Goaltender of the Month, respectively, but never before has a Falcons skater earned a league weekly or monthly honor.

The Falcons next take the ice against the Stockton Thunder on Friday, Nov. 4, at Save Mart Center at 7 p.m. Single-game tickets for the game are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets and Save Mart Center's box office. Prices range from $8 - $23. For complete ticket information and an arena map of Save Mart Center, visit www.fresnofalcons.com/singletickets.html, or contact the Falcons front office directly at (559) 485-PUCK (7825).
