Blades pick up Strome from Long Beach

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president & general manager Craig Brush, along with head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that the club has acquired forward Anders Strome from the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the ECHL for financial considerations.

Strome collected one assist in four games with the Ice Dogs this season. The 24-year-old was in his first season in the ECHL after spending the previous two in the Central Hockey League with two teams. Last season Strome notched 57 points (35g, 22a) in 60 regular season games, and chipped in five points in five playoff games with the Lubbock Cotton Kings.

The native of Winnipeg, Manitoba split the 2002-03 season between the Wichita Thunder and Lubbock. In 40 games with Wichita, Strome picked up 15 goals and 18 assists, then finished the season with 19 points (10g, 9a) in 25 games with Lubbock.

Prior to turning pro, Strome played three seasons at the collegiate level with the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. In three years, he tallied 35 points (20g, 15a) in 91 games with the River Hawks.
