Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have fined Sullivan Arena public address announcer Bob Lester $2,500 for comments made during Sunday's 4-0 win over Bakersfield, with the team directing the full amount of that penalty toward those Mississippi Sea Wolves staff members affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Lester made inappropriate remarks over the public address system following the conclusion of a fight between Alaska's Zack Fitzgerald and Bakersfield's Kevin Kotyluk, the end result of which landed Kotyluk on the 30-day injured reserve list today. Aces head coach Davis Payne apologized to Condors chief Marty Raymond immediately after the game, and after consulting with team officials, the decision was made to fine Lester for his commentary.

"There's no doubt in my mind that Bob is one of the best in the business and has been for many years," said Alaska managing partner Terry Parks. "At the same time, his love for the team and our fans can sometimes cloud his judgement, which I think happened in this case. We wish Bakersfield well this season and hope that Mr. Kotyluk makes a full recovery."

The Aces return to action Friday night in the "E" Center against the Utah Grizzlies at 5:05 p.m. AST. The teams will play again Saturday at 5:05 p.m. AST before Alaska moves on to Boise, Idaho, for a three-game series with the West Division-leading Steelheads beginning Wednesday, November 9. All games, home and away, will be broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com. In addition, all games (excluding road contests at Long Beach and Victoria) will be available on a pay-per-view basis on the internet, courtesy of B2 Networks.
