Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, MA â The Springfield Falcons four-game unbeaten streak was snapped with a 3-0 loss to the Norfolk Admirals at the Springfield Civic Center on Friday evening. Falcons goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier stopped 31 of 34 shots in the defeat. Norfolk's Craig Anderson made 18 saves in registering his seventh career shutout. Forwards Carsen Germyn, Bobby Russell, and Matt Ellison provided the scoring for the Admirals.
After a scoreless first period, Germyn scored 10:22 into the second to provide Norfolk a 1-0 lead. Pelletier made two saves to temporarily stave off the Admirals' three-on-one rush, but Germyn buried the second rebound for the goal. The tally marked the rookie's second pro goal.
Russell collected his first goal of the campaign with a shot from the right wing face-off circle 3:04 later to make the score 2-0.
Ellison capped scoring in the contest by lifting a shot over Pelletier from the edge of the crease for a power-play goal with 34 seconds remaining to play.
Norfolk put 34 shots on net compared to 18 for the Falcons, the widest margin Springfield has been outshot in a game this season.
The Admirals earned their first win through seven games of a ten-game road trip.
The Falcons will look to rebound on Saturday night in Hartford against the rival Wolf Pack. Game time is 7:05 pm. Listen to Falcons broadcaster Marc Shelanski's call of the action on The Zone â Sports Radio 640 beginning with the pre-game show at 6:35 pm.
