Hockey Recess: This third annual noon game is the latest installment of an idea pioneered by the Griffins on Nov. 13, 2001, when they held the first non-holiday weekday matinee in American Hockey League history. The early start time gives several local schools the chance to bring students to a hockey game as a learning opportunity. This year, students will go through interactive concourse displays provided by the Michigan Historical Museum of Lansing. Special displays on the concourse offer "A Walk Through Michigan History," where fans and students can learn about the history of Michigan cities. Students will be given questionnaires to complete on topics ranging from the "Life of Lumberjack" to the process that transforms cream into margarine.

Finding Nemo: In conjunction with the release of the Walt Disney movie "Finding Nemo" on DVD and VHS, the Griffins will hand out masks featuring characters from the movie to kids on their way into the arena. In addition, DVD and VHS copies of the movie will be distributed as prizes for contests held during the game.
