MacAdam decided to switch goaltenders, removing starter David St. Germain in favor of Scott Meyer. The Checkers got an important power-play goal late as Blaz Emersic tipped in a shot from the point to cut the Generals lead to 4-2 after two periods.

The Checker cut the lead to 4-3 early in the third period on Lucas Lawson's goal just 2:37 into the period. Charlotte continued to apply the pressure in the third period by out shooting the Generals 13-8, bit they could not get the tying goal past Berthiaume.
