Bootland Gets Call from Detroit

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday announced that the Detroit Red Wings have recalled right wing Darryl Bootland from the American Hockey League team. Bootland, 22, currently ranks second on the Griffins with five goals in 11 games and leads the club with 32 penalty minutes. His recent three-game goal streak (Oct. 29-Nov. 1) tied for longest on the team this season.

Originally Colorado's 12th choice (252nd overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Bootland joined the Red Wings organization as a free agent in July 2002. He will be available to make his NHL debut on Saturday, when Detroit hosts Nashville at 7:30 p.m.
