Bulldogs edge Leafs in overtime

HAMILTON, ON -The Hamilton Bulldogs managed to defeat the St. John's Maple Leafs 5-4 in overtime on Friday night, despite giving up a three-goal lead in the third period. Pierre Dagenais scored his third goal of the night, with just 14 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Bulldogs the victory. Hamilton's record now improves to six wins, five losses and one overtime loss.

Scoring for the Bulldogs on Friday were Dagenais (3), Jonathan Ferland and Tomas Plekanec. The goal scored by Ferland was the first of his pro career. Captain Benoit Gratton also chipped in with two assists.

Earning goals for the Maple Leafs were Mike Brown (2), Harold Druken and Ben Ondrus.

In goal, Eric Fichaud picked up his fourth win of the season for the Bulldogs by making 25 saves. Maple Leafs goaltender Jamie Hodson stopped 42 shots in the loss.

The Bulldogs tied a season-high by scoring two power play goals on the night (2 for 6). The Maple Leafs converted once on three power play opportunities.

The Bulldogs next action will take place on Saturday, as they travel to the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids to take on the Griffins. Bulldogs fans can listen to Derek Wills call all the action, beginning with the pre-game show at 7:20 p.m. on 820 CHAM and on-line at www.hamiltonbulldogs.com.

For the first time in franchise history the Hamilton Bulldogs will host the Chicago Wolves on Sunday, November 9th (6:00 p.m.) at Copps Coliseum.
