(LAS VEGAS, NV) - The Round Rock Express got into an old-fashioned, light-air, homer battle in Las Vegas Monday night, losing the opener of a four game series, 7-4.

Las Vegas took the lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run homer off Express starter Chris Fussell by SS Norihiro Nakamura. Round Rock matched those two runs with a Danny Klassen two-run shot off winning pitcher Ryan Rupe in the top of the second.

The 51's scored the go-ahead run on a Joe Thurston sacrifice fly in the second inning. But then, the homer barrage started again in the sixth as Express 3B Mike Coolbaugh launched a 475 foot drive onto the stadium scoreboard and Round Rock led 4-3.

That lead did not last long. In the bottom of the sixth, a two-run Joe Thurston homer off losing pitcher Brooks Kieschnick, and an RBI single by former Express CF Henri Stanley made it 6-4 Las Vegas. A solo homer by LF Jayson Werth finished the scoring at 7-4.

The second game of the Las Vegas series begins at 7:05 PM (9:05 PM CST). The Express return home to The Dell Diamond to take on the Iowa Cubs Friday, May 27.
