Sidewinders give up three in fifth, fall to Isotopes, 6-2

Tucson AZ - The Sidewinders were outscored 5 to 1 in the last six innings and lose to the Isotopes 6-2 Tuesday night. The Sidewinders took an early 2-1 lead after three innings behind starting LHP Bill Murphy who had a no hitter entering the top of the forth. Murphy's ran into trouble in the top of the fifth however giving up 3 runs on two homeruns as the Isotopes took the lead 4-2. CF Mark Little connected for a solo shot into the bullpen in left while C Josh Willingham hit a 2-run shot to right-center. The Sidewinders were shut out the rest of the way while the Isotopes added two more to make the final score 6-2.

Although Tucson's offense scored two runs they did gather eleven hits in nine innings. The offense was led by 2B Andy Green and SS Sergio Santos. Green went 3-for-4 with a run and 2 doubles. Santos went 2-for-3 with a run and a walk. With two more hits Santos raised his batting average to .209 for the season.

The loss was credited to starting Murphy who went 6 innings giving up 4 runs, 3 earned, on 5 hits, 4 walks and 6 strikeouts. Relief pitcher Shane Nance lowered his ERA to 3.45 with a perfect inning of relief.

With the loss the Sidewinders move to 25-21 and remain one game ahead of Sacramento for the division lead. The series continues tomorrow against the Isotopes with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 PM at Tucson Electric Park. The scheduled starting pitchers are RHP Edgar Gonzalez (4-1, 2.79) for the Sidewinders and RHP Peter Bauer (1-3, 6.90) for the Isotopes.
