Pitching settles down, RedHawks win

Oklahoma pitchers held Colorado Springs to four hits and no runs in the last six innings in Tuesday's 5-3 win.

Jason Standridge started for the RedHawks and went 6.2 innings, giving up three runs on nine hits with two strikeouts. All three runs came on five hits in the first three innings.

Newly promoted Justin Thompson and closer Jose Veras combined for 2.1 no-hit innings.

Catcher Gerald Laird went two-for-three with a home run and three RBIs for the RedHawks. Oklahoma catchers had been held hitless for the first five games of the homestand.

The RedHawks and Sky Sox will play a doubleheader beginning at 6:05 Wednesday at Tulsa's Drillers Stadium.
