Green Bay Rockers News Release
Largely aided by two grand slams, the Eau Claire Express defeated the Green Bay Bullfrogs 11-7 at Carson Park on Friday, completing a series sweep.
The grand slams came in the third and fifth innings for Eau Claire. In the third, it was Chane Lynch and Brian Sicher, who had a walk off hit on Thursday night, hit the grand slams for Eau Claire.
After a lone run in the third inning, Green Bay's offensive night was defined by a five run fourth inning, in which the Bullfrogs rallied to take a brief lead. The big blow was a three-run double from second-baseman Bryant Burleson (Texas Tech). It was Burleson's only hit on the night.
The Bullfrogs tacked on another run on a Tripp Martin (Samford) home run in the eighth inning to, at the time, cut the Express lead to two runs. Eau Claire tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of that inning.
The Bullfrogs rallied to load the bases with no outs in the ninth, but stranded them full to end the game.
Garrett Harrison (St. Cloud State) took the loss for the Bullfrogs. Lance Thonvold (Minnesota) earned the victory for Eau Claire.
The Bullfrogs travel to La Crosse to take on the Loggers on Saturday and Sunday. Game time Saturday is scheduled for 6:05. The game can be heard on 107.1 WOCO in the Green Bay area, as well as online at www.greenbaybullfrogs.com.
Come out to Joannes Stadium Monday, June 10th, the next Bullfrogs' home game, for Social Media Mondays with KISS FM and Margaritaville Monday Beach Party #1.
