Alexandria Blue Anchors News Release

Tyler Beck gave up 2 runs in five innings, but it wasn't enough as the Blue Anchors fall

The Alexandria Blue Anchors continued their recent slump, falling 6-1 to the St. Cloud Rox on Thursday in front of a crowd of 505 at the Shipyard.

The first three innings of the ballgame were a pitcher's duel, as both Tyler Beck (Augsburg) and St. Cloud pitcher Kyle Fischer kept both offenses off the board. Alexandria scored the first run of the game in the fourth inning, when Andrew Mulato (Michigan State) scored on a Dalton Leuschke (Des Moines Area Community College) single. However, the Rox would respond with two runs in the fifth, sixth, and ninth innings to get the win.

Making a spot start, Beck (0-2) threw five innings, giving up only two runs (one earned) while striking out three and walking none. Six Blue Anchors players recorded hits last night.

For St. Cloud, Fischer (2-0) took the win, with Reese Gregory getting his first save.

The Blue Anchors will be at the Shipyard tonight to start a two-game set vs. the Mankato MoonDogs at 7:05pm. Tonight is Pabst Blue Ribbon Pregame, with 2 for 1 Pabst Blue Ribbon before the first pitch. The Blue Anchors would also like to remind everyone that Sunday is our Blue Anchors Baseball Giveaway, sponsored by Elden's Fresh Foods. The first 150 fans out to the ballpark will receive a souvenir baseball, courtesy of Elden's.
