St. Cloud Rox News Release

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox were back at home playing host to the Waterloo Bucks again Friday night falling 6-3. The Rox are now 2-3 against the Bucks this season after the loss tonight.

Waterloo took an early 1-0 lead over the Rox in the top of the second inning off a sacrifice fly out to center field by Connor McClain. The Bucks would continue to extend their lead 2-0 in the top of the third off another sacrifice fly to center field but this time by Kevin Needham.

The Rox would bring the game within one in the bottom of the third making it a 2-1 game as Charlie Morgan (Jr., Wake Forest University) got the bats going hitting a double. Next up was Eric Loxtercamp (R-So., St. Cloud State) reaching first on an error by the shortstop and then advancing to second, while scoring Morgan.

St. Cloud was able to tie the game up at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run over the left center field fence by Adam Martin (Jr., Western Carolina University). That was Martin's first home run of the season for the Rox.

The Bucks would turn around and score three runs in the top of the sixth taking a 5-2 lead over the St. Cloud Rox and would extend the lead 6-2 in the top of the seventh.

It was Blake Headley (So., University of Nebraska) hitting a single in the bottom of the seventh to keep the hopes alive for the Rox and then advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Chris Paul (So., University of California) would follow with a single allowing Headley to score making it a 6-3 game. St. Cloud would then take three straight outs to end the inning trailing the Bucks.

St. Cloud would hold the Bucks to no runs the rest of the game but could not get the bats going to make a comeback.

Tonight's St. Cloud Times, Rox' Player of the Game goes to Adam Martin. Martin went 1-for-4 including his solo home run that tied the game up 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Martin also added a RBI to his stats for the Rox against the Bucks.
