Explorers Blanked By Kansas City

Kansas City, KS - Jiro Perez hit a two-out, two-run home run in the sixth inning as Kansas City shutout the Explorers here Wednesday 2-0. The home run came off losing hurler Dan Jurik (1-2) The Explorers and T-Bones had two each each and the Explorers biggest threat came in seventh inning with the bases loaded and two outs when pinch hitter Peter Barrows flied out to deep left field to end the inning.

YuskeInoguchi led the Explorers with two hits and had the only extra base hit of the game for the X's with a double in the sixth inning. The X's also threatened in the first and second innings off starter Eric Gonzalez, but hit into two double plays.

With the loss, the Explorers and Kansas City are now tied for fourth place in the Central Division of the American Association with identical records of 8-11.

The final game of the four-game series with Kansas City will be Thursday night with game time set for 7:05.
