Saints Announce Upcoming Promotions

ST. PAUL, MN - The St. Paul Saints have been on the road so long bell bottoms went out of style and came back in again. So it hasn't been that long, but after 12-days without a home game the Saints homestand will take fans back to the past, whether it's the 60s or 80s and will leave you asking, "Who? What?" We will get a little artsy as fans get creative with the internet. Don't do anything illegal because law enforcement will be out in full force.

The St. Paul Saints will open their six game homestand with a three-game series against the 2012 American Association runner ups, the Wichita Wingnuts on Friday night, June 7 at 7:05 p.m. It's National Donut Day so we pay tribute to the glazed, cruller, jelly, cream-filled and all the delectable deep-fried pieces of enriched dough. Homer Simpson would love this day, but so would our friends in law enforcement, which is why we honor them tonight. Speeding to your seats will not be allowed on this night and if you loiter in an area too long you will receive a ticket. If you steal a foul ball from a kid you will spend an inning in the slammer. Our friends in law enforcement like a good show and we will give them one with our Xcel Enegy Friday Night Fireworks Show.

Everywhere you look around Midway Stadium art decorates the ballpark and on Saturday, June 8 the 7:05 p.m. will be dedicated to our artistic friends who are putting on Northern Spark in Lowertown. A mural of the Saints history greets fans in front of the ballpark and inside the front gates. Andy's art corner sits on the third base side and photos that tell a story of Midway Stadium adorn the walls all around. The rich art history in Lowertown, future home of the Saints, receives the annual Northern Spark event. Northern Spark is a portal to a new experience of the Twin Cities. Throughout the night they pick a route accompanied by friends or in the companionship of familiar strangers. Together they look at art, experience community in a new way, and see the cities in a new light as Saints staff and players help add to the festive experience. The Saints may give you a little spending money for that rare find on St. Croix Casino Big Money $aturday where fans have a chance to win up to $77,777.

The weekend series against the Wingnuts wraps up with a 1:05 p.m. contest on Sunday, June 9 with the Saints asking, "Who's on First?" It's the 75th Anniversary of the classic Abott and Costello comedy routine. Everyone knows Who, What and I Don't Know, but did you know the outfielders are named Why, Because! and Nobody. The Saints will wear the names of the characters on the back of their uniforms that correspond to the position they play with the jersey's being auctioned off during the game. It is a Saver's Family Sunday as kids can run the bases and get autographs from the entire team following the game.

The Saints welcome in their North Division rivals the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks for a three game series beginning on Monday, June 10 at 7:05 p.m. Whether you're someone stuck in the 60s or just a hippie at heart then you'll want to come out and help us celebrate our very own Vice Presidents, Tom Whaley, birthday as we go Back to the 60s. Bell-bottom jeans, flower power, go-go boots, lava lamps and peace signs are back in style on this day as we rock out to the Beatles, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. We may even create our own Woodstock. There is no other better way to celebrate the 60s than with $1 beer on Buck Beer Night.

On Tuesday, June 11 at 7:05 p.m. The Front Page of the Internet meets minor league baseball on Reddit Night. Fans can gather in unique groups at the ballpark based on their penchant for headline news. Start conversations with the person next to you about everything going on in the world and there may even be a celebrity Ask Me Anything chat similar to the one President Barack Obama conducted. I think most Redittors will agree that tasty food trucks hit the spot, so join us for Food Truck Tuesday during the game with a few of the more popular vendors in the parking lot serving their tasty treats.

The final game of the homestand takes place on Wednesday, June 12 at 7:05 p.m. as two of the most influential moments in history collide on Demolition Day. No, this is not in reference to anything disco-like, but celebrates the historical moment on this day when President Reagan told Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev to, "Tear down this wall" in reference to the Berlin Wall. The Saints will ask the same of the construction workers in Lowertown as the Diamond Products/Gillette building gets ready to crumble to the ground in anticipation of the new ballpark. Nothing will crumble in the Saints parking lot, but for any grumbling stomachs we have the answer on Walser Wednesday with the craziest tailgate party. Walser will serve up free hot dogs in the parking lot prior to the game.

We know 12-days without a home game are just too much for our fans to take and that's why this six game homestand is packed with all the fun and excitement for everyone in the family. Whether you were a child of the 60s or someone who grew up in the digital age everyone can find common ground at a Saints game. We won't be offended if you don't know Who's on first (yes), but if your idea of art is tearing down our outfield wall then be prepared to spend an evening with our law enforcement friends. Summer is around the corner and baseball is in full swing.
