ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (25-14-6) won their third straight game with a 4-3 shootout victory over the Mississippi Sea Wolves (22-17-3) on Tuesday night at Germain Arena.
Damian Surma and Brent McDonald each scored in the shootout for the Everblades, and goaltender Tyler MacKay turned away all four shooters from the Sea Wolves to lift the Everblades to their 12th come-from-behind win of the season.
After Florida opened a 1-0 advantage late in the first period on a power play goal by Matt Hendricks, the Sea Wolves stormed back with a pair of goals separated by just 21 seconds midway through the second period to take their first lead of the night. Mike Martone and Jay Legault scored the quick goals for Mississippi, setting off a barrage of goals in a span of 4:41. Neither team scored in the five-minute overtime period sending the game into the shootout. The shootout win moved the 'Blades record to 3-2, and brought their record to 2-0-0 vs. Mississippi this season.
