Gendron, Deitelbaum and Solarski To Play In Subway Alumni Game

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots are proud to announce that Pierre Gendron, Sam Deitelbaum and WEAR TV 3 News Anchorman Bob Solarski will play in the Subway Alumni Game on Saturday, February 26th at 5:05 p.m. Pensacola News Journal Sports Editor Joe Culpepper and WEAR TV 3 Sports Director Dan Shugart will be the Honorary Coaches in the game.

Gendron played for the Ice Pilots during the 1998-99 season as he was acquired in a trade from Tallahassee during the middle of the season. He played in 47 games for the Ice Pilots scoring 23 goals, 27 assists for 50 points and picked up 51 penalty minutes.

Gendron has also played in the ECHL for New Orleans and Charlotte, in the CHL for Oklahoma City, the WPHL for ! New Mexico and the AHL for Hamilton. He played college hockey at McGill University and in the QMJHL for Verdun College-Francais. Gendron, who is 31 years old from Montreal, Quebec, is currently playing in the LNAH for Verdun.

Deitelbaum was the Ice Pilots emergency back up goalie from 1997-2001 playing in 2 games stopping 28 out of 32 shots for a total of 73 minutes and 13 seconds. He appeared in two straight games during the Ice Pilots third season stopping 10 out 12 shots in a 7-4 loss to Miami and stopping 18 out of 20 shots in a 5-0 loss to Baton Rouge.

Solarski, who is 42 years old, has been with WEAR TV 3 for eleven years. He is from Plattsburgh, New York and attended SUNY Plattsburgh State. Solarski played pick up hockey as a kid thru high school and college. I havent skated for a while but I have a big heart and will give over 100 percent effort for my team as Im looking forward to having a lot of fun with all of the alumni members in the game, said the veteran ! news anchorman of WEAR TV 3.

Pensacola News Journal Sports Editor Jo e Culpepper and WEAR TV 3 Sports Director Dan Shugart will be the Honorary Coaches for the Subway Alumni Game.

Gendron, Deitelbaum, Solarski, Culpepper and Shugart will join Harold Hersh, Craig Brown, Eon MacFarlane, Christian Sbrocca, Martin Choo Choo Chouinard, Andrew Rodgers, Scott LaGrand, Scott Malone, Kelly Hultgren and Ice Pilots Hall of Famers Chad Quenneville and Shane Calder along with Ice Pilots owner Tim Kerr in the Subway Alumni Game. Members of the Jr. Ice Pilots and Senior League will also play in the game. Etienne Beaudry will not be able to participate in the game because of personal reasons.

The Subway Alumni Game begins at 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, February 26th followed by the Ice Pilots vs. Mississippi at 7:05 p.m. One ticket is good for both games. Shane Calder and Chad Quenneville will be inducted into the Ice Plots/Subway Hall of Fame during the first intermission of the Ice Pilots game vs. Mississippi. The alumni players and current players will bot! h be wearing special alumni jerseys that is currently being auctioned at www.icepilots.com. Fans can bid on the special alumni jerseys with a minimum bid of $200 and the auction will go until Friday, February 25th at Noon Central time.

The alumni jerseys are in the color of navy blue with the letter Pensacola written on the front of the jersey in gold with white trim. It is the first time ever that a jersey has been done like this in the organization. Other miscellaneous game worn jerseys and non game worn jerseys will also be auctioned with the alumni jerseys. The winners of the alumni jerseys will be able to have their picture taken with the players on Subway Alumni Night after the game.

The Ice Pilots, who have the best record in the ECHL and the most points at 30-11-4 for 64 points, will play home to the Texas Wildcatters this Friday and Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. The Ice Pilots will also play home on Monday, Valentines Day vs. South Carolina at 7:05 p.m.

Friday ! Night is Church Night and Saturday Night is Scout Night. Bring your Ch urch group and Scout troop to see the Ice Pilots play as the Ice Pilots have won eight games in a row. Ice Pilots Head Coach Dave Farrish will be going after his 500th career win.
