Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release
Toledo, OH â Goaltender Scott Fankhouser stopped all 19 Atlantic City shots to lead the Toledo Storm to a 5-0 victory over the Boardwalk Bullies before 2634 at the Toledo Sports Arena in ECHL action Wednesday.
Toledo opened the scoring with a power play goal at 12:12 of the first period. Tyler Knight redirected Paul Ballantyne's point shot above the right shoulder of Bullies goaltender Trevor Koenig to give the Storm a 1-0 lead.
Nick Parillo increased the lead to 2-0 in the second period, when shorthanded he stripped Brian Fahey of the puck at the Bullies blue line, broke in alone at the net, and slipped the puck through the pads of Koenig at 8:47.
Toledo struck for three goals in the third period to put the game out of reach. Scooter Smith beat Koenig top shelf with a slap shot from the slot at 2:47 of the period to increase the lead to 3-0. Tomas Micka made it 4-0 when he side-stepped Derek Edwardson at the right-wing circle and fired a wrist-shot through Koenig's pads at 10:26. Todd Jackson finished the scoring with a goal at 14:47 to make the final 5-0.
Toledo out-shot Atlantic City 25-19. Koenig made 19 saves in falling to 12-8-2 on the season. The Bullies went 0-5 on the power play.
Atlantic City returns to Historic Boardwalk Hall at 7:05PM Friday, February 11 as they host the Trenton Titans. $6 from every $12 Mezzanine Level Ticket sold will be donated to the James Beck Foundation. On Saturday, the Bullies host the Reading Royals at 2:05PM and $6 from every $12 Mezzanine Level Ticket sold will be donated to the UNICEF Tsunami Relief Fund.
