TRENTON, NJ (February 9, 2005) - Titans center Brent Robinson and winger Scott Bertoli each scored two goals lifting Trenton to a 5-2 victory over the visiting Johnstown Chefs in front of 3,412 fans at Sovereign Bank Arena.
The Titans converted their first power play opportunity of the evening when defenseman Michael Schutte, in just his fourth game with the club, drilled a one-timer toward the Johnstown net where it was tipped by Brent Robinson for his 12th goal of the year.
The team's second goal came off the stick of left winger Nick Deschenes, when beat Johnstown goaltender David Currie at 3:20 of the first period with a quick wrist shot from far face-off circle.
But the Chiefs charged back. Steven Hildenbrand sent a crisp pass across the crease to a wide-open Mike James who tucked the puck in an open net at 10:52 in the first. Johnstown then evened the contest at the 16:34 mark, when defenseman Jeff Sullivan fired a slapshot into the top of the net.
The second period belonged entirely to the Titans, who scored twice and took control of the game. Bertoli broke the tie when he converted a break away just 2:06 into the frame. Robinson's second of the game gave the Titans a 4-2 lead 12:58 into the period, when he wristed the puck off Currie's back for the score.
