Florida Everblades News Release

November is well underway and the team has several school events scheduled as well as the annual St. Jude's Fundraiser on November 18 at Sienna at Vista Lakes Apartments in Fort Myers. The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public. There will be a raffles throughout the evening. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the team and get autographs. .

The past month has been a busy one for the Everblades with training camp, and the start of the 2014-15 season. Despite the time spent on the ice during the past month, the Everblades have been just as busy in the community as well. The following are some highlights of the team's recent community involvement:

'Blades Visit Royal Palm Academy

Everblades' rookies Jeff Silengo and Patrick McEachen visited the great folks at Royal Palm Academy.

Both players answered questions from students regarding hockey and the importance of an education. Both players circled the room offering high fives to all of the kids in attendance.

Many students walked away with some great prizes such as Everblades hats, shirts, and duffle bags.

The annual event at Royal Palm Academy also assists in generating excitement and awareness for the school's fundraiser with the team.

6th Annual Breakfast with the 'Blades

On October 19, the annual Breakfast with the 'Blades took place at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs. The annual fundraiser benefits the Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. Funds are raised through both silent and live auctions comprised of sports memorabilia, vacation packages, weekend getaways, and other products and services donated by local supporters.

Money is also raised through tickets to the event itself which includes a brunch buffet, and the opportunity to sit at the event with an Everblades player. The team also conducts an autograph session prior to the breakfast.

This year's event raised more than $100,000 for the Golisano Children's Hospital. Several generous attendees at the event donated $25,000 to help build a room at the new Golisano Children's Hospital which is currently being constructed. .

Once again the event was a great success, and fun was had by all!

'Blades Visit Seacrest Country Day School

Everblades forward Chris Kushneriuk and rookie goaltender Daniel Altshuller recently visited Seacrest Country Day School in Naples. The players fielded questions asked by the students (K-5) regarding hockey, career aspirations, education, and even who their favorite super hero was.

The players asked a student volunteer to join them up front and dress up like a hockey player. The players described the different types of hockey equipment and what parts of the body they protect.

Everblades mascot Swampee and Seacrest mascot Stingy joined joined forces at the event, and the duo entertained the kids and posed for pictures following the assembly.

The students, faculty, and staff had such a great time at the assembly, that a group of 162 people from the school attended the Everblades November 1 game against Orlando. In addition, the school's chorus performed the National Anthem prior to the game!
