The Solar Bears jumped out to an early lead. On a power play, Carson McMillan worked the puck down low to Greg Miller who tucked it in to give Orlando a 1-0 lead.
Two minutes later, the Solar Bears tacked on another one as Eric Knodel fired a slap shot into the back of the net. Knodel's first of the season gave put Orlando up 2-0.

Orlando responded before the break as passes from Denver Manderson and Brock Montgomery set up Ryan Rupert for his first goal of the season. Rupert roofed the puck to give the Solar Bears a 3-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
The Solar Bears added to their lead in the second period as Miller knocked in his own rebound for his second goal of the game to make it a 4-1 Solar Bear lead.
Facing a three-goal deficit, Evansville rallied. Kale Kerbashian ripped a slap shot that Clermont stopped. However, the rebound found the stick of Jarrett Lukin who knocked it home to cut the Orlando lead to 4-2. Troy Rutkowski added an assist on Lukin's second of the year.
