Carruth Reassigned to Rockford, Telyakov to 21-Day IR
November 11, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Chicago Blackhawks, proud NHL affiliate of the Indy Fuel, announced Tuesday that they have reassigned Indy goaltender Mac Carruth to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL for the second time this season. The Fuel also announced Tuesday that defenseman Ildar Telyakov has been placed on the 21-day injured reserve list with an upper-body injury.
"We're happy to see Mac earn another opportunity in the AHL," said Fuel Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Scott Hillman on Tuesday, "We wish him the best of luck in Rockford."
A 6'3", 182 lb. goaltender from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Carruth was selected by the Blackhawks in the seventh round (191st overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft. In three appearances for the Fuel this season, Carruth is 0-1-1-1 with a 3.54 goals-against average and a .853 save percentage. As a result of Carruth's reassignment, the Fuel signed Indianapolis native Jordan Tibbett, formerly of Mercyhurst College, to an emergency backup goaltender contract.
Telyakov's move to the IR makes the 6'8", 231 lb. St. Petersburg, Russia native the third Fuel player on the 21-day injured list, alongside forward Johnny McGuire and defenseman Kirill Gotovets. "All teams deal with injuries throughout the season and we're going through a bit of that right now," explained Hillman Tuesday. "We're fortunate to have great depth in our defensive corps and Ildar's injury will create a lot of opportunity for the other guys on the back end."
Next up for the Fuel, it's a Saturday tilt vs. the Wheeling Nailers on "Military Appreciation Night" with the opening faceoff set for 7:35 pm at the Fairgrounds Coliseum. The Fuel will be wearing specialty military-themed jerseys on Saturday that will be auctioned off to fans following the game with a portion of the net proceeds going to "Operation Hat Trick" to support America's wounded warriors. All ticket holders will receive a mini-American flag and all active-duty military members and veterans will receive a $5 concessions voucher and commemorative gift with paid admission. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, online at Ticketmaster.com and at the Fairgrounds Coliseum box office during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Full TV coverage of Saturday's game begins at 7:30 pm on Saturday on HTSN with Jim Mirabello on the call and full radio coverage gets underway with the "Jose Cuervo Pregame Show" at 7:20 pm, live on CBS Sports 1430 AM with Fuel broadcaster Tony Brown providing the play-by-play.
In 2014-15, the Indy Fuel, the proud "AA" affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and AHL's Rockford IceHogs, drop the puck on their first season in the ECHL.
