Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (12-11-1) lost 2-1 in overtime to the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Tuesday night at Germain Arena. The overtime loss marked the first time this season the Everblades have lost in either overtime or a shootout. The Everblades gain a point in the standings with the tie.
A hard-fought, action filled game saw the team's battle to a 1-1 regulation finish before the Ice Pilots won the game 1:09 into the extra period on Jason Beckett's first goal of the season. Prior to that, the goaltenders ruled the show with Craig Kowalski for Florida and Frederic Cloutier for Pensacola making several big saves to keep their team in the game. The only goals that got past the net minders both came in the second period. Florida opened the scoring on Keith Anderson's fifth goal of the season at 5:11 of the middle period. The Ice Pilots battled their way back into the game at 13:34 when Cam Keith completed a 2-on-1 rush to tie the game.
Kowalski earned a tie for his efforts, stopping 27 of 29 Pensacola shots, bringing his record to 8-5-1. Cloutier helped the Ice Pilots to their third straight win by turning away 31 of 32 Florida shots, which brought his record to 7-4-2. The Everblades finished the night 0-for-3 on the power play, while Pensacola failed to convert on two power play chances.
Florida continues their five-game home stand on Friday, December 17 at Germain Arena, when they host the Augusta Lynx at 7:30 p.m. You can hear all of the Everblades action on SportsRadio 770 AM or via internet by visiting www.floridaeverblades.com, www.abc-7.com, and www.nbc-2.com with the "Voice of the Everblades" Kevin Reiter calling the play-by-play.
