Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL - The Texas Wildcatters (1-1-0) scored two power play goals 25 seconds apart in the final minute of the first period, and got 38 saves from goaltender Davis Parley to help them to a 3-2 victory over the Florida Everblades (1-1-0) on Saturday night at Germain Arena.

After falling behind 1-0 on Damian Surma's first goal of the night for Florida, Tony Lawrence and John Snowden scored at 19:23 & 19:48 of the first period to give Texas a 2-1 lead after the first period of play. The lead for Texas came despite not picking up their first shot on goal until the 16 minute mark of the opening period.

The Wildcatters extended their lead to 3-1 when Brad Voth smacked home a ricocheting shot from the point at 15:28 of the second period. Surma gave the 'Blades a spark when he collected his third goal of the season at 18:44 of the middle stanza, by banking in a shot off Parley while Florida was shorthanded. However, that was as close as the 'Blades would get as Parley turned away 10 third period shots to preserve the victory for Texas.

On the night, Florida finished 1-for-8 on the power play, while the Wildcatters converted on two of their six man advantages. The weekend series between the South Division rivals finished in a split.

Florida takes on the Gwinnett Gladiators on Tuesday night, October 26 at Germain Arena at 7:30 PM. The contest is the first of six between the two teams. All 72 regular season games can be heard on Sportsradio Radio 770 AM and on the World Wide Web at www.floridaeverblades.com, www.abc-7.com, and www.nbc-2.com with the "Voice of the Everblades" Kevin Reiter calling the play-by-play.
