Chiefs Open the Season With Win

Johnstown, PA- The Johnstown Chiefs opened up the 2004-2005 season at home Saturday night with a 4-3 win over the Wheeling Nailers in front of 3,317 fans at the Cambria County War Memorial.

The Chiefs jumped out to a 4-0 lead with goals by Mike James, Jean Desrochers, John Kozoriz and P.L. Courchesne. Wheeling got third period goals by Ed McGrane, Steve Crampton and Jason Jaffray.

Chiefs goaltender David Currie made 29 saves for his first win of the season while Wheeling goaltender Dany Sabourin stopped 22 Johnstown shots.

The Chiefs are back in action on Sunday afternoon when they host the Dayton Bombers at 3:00 p.m. All kids ages 11 and under can get a ticket for just $1, courtesy of Heluva Good Quality Foods.
