FLORENCE, SC -- The Pee Dee Pride defeated the Augusta Lynx 4-1 Saturday night in front of 2,756 fans at the Florence Civic Center. The Pride are now 2-0-0 for the first time in three seasons. Pee Dee prevailed despite being outshot 40-17.

Kevin Cooper opened the scoring, netting his first professional goal at the 8:26 mark of the opening period. Cooper gathered in a loose puck behind the Augusta net, and beat Lynx goaltender Matus Kostur on the wraparound.

The Lynx tied the game at the 17:22 mark as Jamie Johnson beat goaltender Nick Boucher for his first goal of the season.

But, the tie did not last long as Kyle Kidney put the Pride up for good just 13 seconds later with his third goal of the weekend.

It stayed 2-1 until midway through the third period when Gregg Johnson netted his first of the season on a power play at 11:44.

Brian Collins iced the game, scoring a power play goal, his second goal of the season, with just 4 seconds left.

Boucher earned the game's number one star, making 39 saves. He was at his best late in the second period when Augusta had a two-man advantage for a full two minutes. The first-year Pride netminder made six saves on that power-play opportunity alone.
