Evansville Otters News Release
(EVANSVILLE, Ind.) - Pitcher Dan Marcacci didn't allow a run in his first professional start and the Otters rallied early for the former USI pitcher during a 5-1 victory at Historic Bosse Field.
On a warm Tuesday evening, the Evansville bats heated up first. Outfielder Jamar Walton hit a two run double, infielder Jon Waltenbury singled home another run, and catcher Brett Chamberlain added an RBI single to take a commanding 4-0 lead.
The scoring was more than enough for Marcacci who threw five scoreless innings, while giving up just one walk and a single hit in his first professional win.
Evansville added a sacrifice fly from Walton in the 7th inning and Windy City scored their lone run in the eight as the Otters won their first game at Bosse Field this season.
Evansville improves to 3-13 this season as Windy City drops to 9-7.
The Otters and Thunderbolts will play the middle contest of the three game series on Wednesday night. Left-hander Matt Costello (1-1, 7.30 earned run average) will be on the hill for Windy City as he will be opposed by Evansville righty Scott Kelley (0-2, 5.14 ERA).
