
Miners Can't Contain Wild Things

The Miners (12-4) dropped the first game of their six game road trip 2-1 Tuesday night in Washington. The Wild Things (7-9) took the lead with a two run rally in the sixth inning. Scott Lawson scored the go-ahead run for Washington when he stole third base and crossed the plate on Sean Coughlin?s throwing error.
Coughlin drove in the Miners only run, an RBI double in the fourth to gave the Miners a 1-0 lead. Shawn Joy was the tough luck loser for the Miners, allowing two runs, only one of them earned, in seven innings of work as he dropped to 1-2 on the season. With the loss, the Miners five game winning streak came to an end.
Wednesday they will try to even the series in Game 2 when Brendon Malkowski takes his 3-0 record and 0.90 ERA to the mound against Washington's Vidal Nuno (2-2, 2.84). First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. Central Time from Washington.
