ENTERING TODAY'S ACTION...

Today, the SeaWolves look to snap an eight-game home losing streak as they take on the Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) in the final game of a three-game series at Jerry Uht Park. Last night, the 'Wolves squandered a two-run eight inning lead and fell to 3-10 on the season against Trenton following a 12-7 loss. The loss snapped Erie string of two consecutive series wins. Erie is in last place in the Western Division, 16 games behind first place Altoona. The 'Wolves are only five games behind second place Bowie...Righty Anthony Shawler takes the mound for the 'Wolves making a spot start in place of Andy Oliver who will be making his Major League debut with Detroit on Friday. This will be the first career start for Shawler who has made 12 relief appearances for the 'Wolves this season. In his last appearance against New Hampshire on June 20, Shawler tossed 1.2 innings, allowing a run on three hits with no walks and two strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .248 against Shawler this season...RHP Hector Noesi takes the mound for Trenton making his seventh start and second against the 'Wolves. Noesi took a loss in his last start against Binghamton allowing a run on six hits with no walks and five strikeouts in seven innings. Noesi tossed three scoreless innings against Erie on May 27 in a rain suspended game.

- Trenton has won the season series taking 10 of the first 13 games against Erie. The SeaWolves and Thunder meet 14 times in 2010." Defensively, the 'Wolves have committed 78 errors on the season which is the second-most in the EL. - The SeaWolves are sixth in the league with a 4.19 team ERA. Trenton is fifth with a 3.68 team ERA." The SeaWolves are 11th in the league with a .243 team batting average. Trenton is fourth with a .264 team average."
