Harrisburg Senators News Release

Darin Mastroianni drove in Jonathan Diaz with a sacrifice fly in the top of the eleventh inning, and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats held on to beat the Harrisburg Senators, 5-4, to win the three-game weekday series between the teams. The game was played in front of a crowd of 3516 at Metro Bank Park.

Diaz doubled off of Rafael Martin (2-1) to lead off the inning, and ultimately hand Martin the loss. Trystan Magnuson was the pitcher of record for the Fisher Cats, and earned the win to improve to 2-0 on the season. Tim Collins was perfect in the bottom of the eleventh to pick up his fifth save.

The teams traded runs in the first inning, with New Hampshire (44-29) getting an RBI groundout from Eric Thames to score Mastroianni. In the bottom of the first, the Sens struck back with a sacrifice fly from Chris Marrero, that brought home Danny Espinosa to tie the game.

The Fisher Cats scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead, on three hits. Shawn Bowman and David Cooper drove in the runs, both with singles. The Senators (34-39) once again scored quickly in retaliation, but this time did not tie the game. Jhonatan Solano doubled in Edgardo Baez to cut the deficit to 4-2, but was then stranded at third to end the inning.

In the ninth inning, Michael Martinez struck the big blow of the game for the Sens, blasting a two-run home run over the left-field fence to tie the game. The homer scored Jesus Valdez, and sent the game to extra innings. The teams then traded scoreless frames in the tenth, before Mastroianni drove in the winning run in the eleventh.

The Senators begin a three-game weekend series with the Reading Phillies on Friday night at Metro Bank Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 PM, with radio coverage on 1460 AM The Ticket and www.senatorsbaseball.com beginning at 6:45. Left-hander John Lannan makes his first start of the season for the Senators, after spending the past few seasons in the Major Leagues with the Washington Nationals. Lannan was the opening-day starter for the Nationals in each of the past two seasons. He opposes J.C. Ramirez (1-0, 6.00) of the R-Phils.
