TODAY: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Akron Aeros will meet in the finale of a three-game series...The Aeros scored three unanswered runs and came back from a 4-2 deficit to knock off the Flying Squirrels 5-4 in game two of the series on Wednesday night.

TODAY'S STARTERS: Right-hander Daryl Maday gets the start in the finale of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Suffered the loss in his last start against 6/18 against Altoona...Allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits in six innings...Struck out four batters and walked three...Retired eight of the first nine batters he faced...Walked the leadoff batter in the fourth and fifth innings...Both runners scored...Threw 102 pitches, 64 strikes...Threw 55 pitches including 33 in the sixth inning in his final two frames...Recorded seven fly outs and six ground outs...Three walks matched a season high...Fourth time in 14 starts that he allowed more than two runs...Has not allowed more than three runs this season...Leads the Eastern League with a 2.09 ERA...Ranks fifth among EL starting pitchers in base runners per nine innings at 10.80 (98/81.2 IP)...Attempting to become the second EL pitcher to nine wins (Jared Hughes)...Is 1-3 over his last five starts with a 3.45 ERA (13R/11ER) and has allowed 24 hits in 28 2/3 innings...Was 7-0 over his first nine starts with a 1.36 ERA (8R/8ER) and allowed 47 hits in 53 innings.

CLAY-MATION: Outfielder Clay Timpner matched his season-high in hits in a 3-for-4 effort against Akron last night including a double and a home run...He also tied a season-high with three RBI...It was his fourth three-hit game of the season and his second three-RBI game of the year...The home run was his first in 200 at-bats and his first since 9/1/09 at Las Vegas while he was with Triple-A Fresno...The 27-year-old is hitting .389 (7-for-18) over his last five games with two doubles, a homer, three RBI and two runs scored...He has also walked twice over that span and has not struck out...Over his previous 12 games, Timpner was 3-for-35 at the plate (.086) with a double, three RBI, and three runs scored...He struck out four times and walked four times.

HITTER BY DESIGNATION: The Flying Squirrels are hitting .254 (252-for-994) with the designated hitter in the line up...The club is batting .239 (328-for-1374) with the pitcher batting...Richmond DHs are batting just .204 (22-for-108) on the season; however, the DHs are just 2-for-52 over the last 15 games against American League affiliates (since 5/18)...The Flying Squirrel DHs were hitting .357 (20-for-56) over their first 16 games...Richmond pitchers are hitting just .130 (12-for-92) at the plate with 52 strikeouts...The Flying Squirrels are 18-13 against American League affiliates and will face an AL affiliate over the next 11 games counting today.

CFS STAT OF THE NIGHT: Right-hander Felix Romero went 6 2/3 innings last night making it the longest outing of his career...The 30-year-old went six innings in his previous start against Binghamton 6/17.
