ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves open up a six-game homestand and a three-game series against the Reading Phillies (Philadelphia Phillies) at Jerry Uht Park. The 'Wolves are coming off of a series split with Akron. Erie won the middle two games of the series. The 'Wolves and R-Phils are in a fifth place tie in the Southern Division, 19.5 games behind first place Akron. The last time Reading visited Erie was May 27-29. Erie swept that three game series. Erie is 5-5 in the last 10 games while the Phillies are 6-4. The 'Wolves are 9-7 in 16 games following the all-star break. Reading is also coming off of a four-game series split, winning the first and final games of a four-game set against Harrisburg. The 'Wolves are currently in a string of 25-straight games with the club's next off day coming on Monday, August 11...Righty Luis Marte takes the mound for Erie in the series opener, making his fifth start for the 'Wolves. Marte is 0-1 in two starts since returning from the disabled list. He took a no-decision in his last outing against Bowie on July 26. In the game, Marte went 5.2 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Marte has been building up his pitch count as he was limited to 75 pitches on 7/21 and 90 pitches in his last start. He is still looking for his first win in an Erie uniform...Righty Tyson Brummett takes the mound for Reading, making his ninth start for the R-Phils. In his last start on July 26, Brummett went five innings, allowing three runs on four hits with five walks and three strikeouts in a no-decision against New Hampshire. Brummett has walked 10 batters in his last 11 innings of work and is 0-1 against the SeaWolves.
