Today, the SeaWolves look to avoid being swept for the first time this season as they take on the Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants) in the final game of a three-game series at The Diamond. Last night, the SeaWolves held and early but short lived one run lead in the second before Richmond outscored the âWolves 6-1 the remainder of the game, sending Erie to its third straight loss. The loss dropped the SeaWolves to a game under .500 and it was their fifth straight loss to Richmond. The SeaWolves would need to win the final four games of the season series over the Squirrels to avoid a season series loss. Richmond has out scored the SeaWolves 30-7 in the last five games between the two clubs...The SeaWolves send righty Brooks Brown to the mound making his fourth start since returning from the disabled list. Brown earned a win in his last start at Reading on June 21. In the game, he allowed a run on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in seven innings of work. Erie won the game 4-1 and Brown evened his record to 1-1. He faced Richmond once in 2010 and tossed a complete game shutout in July 3 at The Diamond...Lefty Ryan Verdugo takes the mound for Richmond making his 14th start and second against the SeaWolves. Verdugo has dropped his last two starts allowing a combined 13 runs over the two appearances. The SeaWolves dealt Verdugo a loss on May 23. In the game, he allowed four runs, two earned, on five hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts in 6.1 innings.
