
Fisher Cats Top Sea Dogs 7-3 for Fifth Straight

Manchester, NH - Mark Sobolewski hit his first home run of the season and Joel Carreno struck out nine batters in winning for the sixth time as the Fisher Cats topped Portland 7-3 on Sunday afternoon.
There were several attendance marks set in the contest. The crowd of 8,121 was the 8th largest ever at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. It was also the largest crowd to attend a day game and to attend a Sunday game in franchise history.
The Fisher Cats (46-27), in completing a three-game sweep of Portland and winning for the fifth consecutive time, opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. Mike McDade singled and scored on a double by Moises Sierra (2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI). Ricardo Nanita singled and Sobolewski hit his home run to right field off starter and loser Brock Huntzinger (4-6) for a 4-0 lead.
Sobolewski walked in the fourth and scored on a triple by Callix Crabbe. Adeiny Hechavarria followed with an RBI single to make it 6-0.
Portland (25-47) scored its runs in the top of the fifth inning. Jonathan Hee doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch. Oscar Tejeda walked and Jorge Padron drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Mitch Dening doubled Tejeda to third, who then scored on a wild pitch. Ryan Khoury's singled plated Dening to make it 6-3.
In the last of the eighth inning, Sierra hit his team-leading 12th homer to make it 7-3.
Carreno (6-5) worked six innings, allowing four hits and three runs. He walked two and struck out nine. Clint Everts, Chad Beck and Matt Daly each worked a scoreless innings in relief.
The Fisher Cats open up a seven-game roadtrip on Monday night in Trenton. RHP Henderson Alvarez (4-2, 2.30) will start for New Hampshire against Thunder RHP Craig Heyer (6-3, 3.45). Game time is 7:05pm and radio coverage on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman begins at 6:45pm.
