ENTERING TODAY'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves take on the Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) in the third game of a four-game opening weekend series at Waterfront Park...Last night, the Trenton pitching staff again stifled the Erie bats, limiting the 'Wolves to just one run on six hits in a 3-1 loss. Erie has now scored just one run on 10 hits in the first 18 innings of the 2010 season. The one run is the fewest scored by an EL club through two games this season...The 'Wolves are looking to avoid their first 0-3 start since 2006 when the club dropped three straight in Harrisburg...Lefty Duane Below makes his first appearance in a game since undergoing Tommy John surgery last spring. Below left a game on May 24 in Akron with elbow pain and was subsequently placed on the DL for the remainder of the season. He went 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA in two starts with the Howlers last season...Lefty Jeremy Bleich takes the mound for Trenton. Bleich combined to make 27 starts between Tampa and Trenton in 2009. In 13 starts with the Thunder, he went 3-6 with a 6.65 ERA. In two starts against the SeaWolves, Bleich went 0-1 with a 10.00 ERA (10 ER/9 IP)...With last night's loss, the SeaWolves have now lost seven of their last nine games in Trenton dating back to 2008. Erie's last series win in Trenton came in 2007 when the club swept the Thunder in a three-game series July 23-25. Erie will make one more trip to Waterfront Park this season (May 24-27).

TODAY'S NOTABLES -

- Trenton leads the season series over Erie 2-0. The SeaWolves and Thunder meet 14 times in 2010." Erie's roster fields just two Double-A rookies, INF Justin Henry and LHP Andy Oliver." Erie's hitting coach Glenn Adams is not with the team due to pre-season hip surgery. Tigers minor league roving catching instructor Andrew Graham will handle hitting coach duties until Adams is able to return. Graham played for Erie in 2006." The SeaWolves have started the season 0-2 on the road. Erie was the worst road team in the EL in 2009 going just 26-45 away from Jerry Uht Park. The last time Erie finished the season with a winning road record was 2007 when the club went 38-34." Erie's starting pitchers through two games have allowed just one earned run in 10-plus innings of work. The bullpen has yielded five runs in the first two games." Erie, Harrisburg and New Britain are the only winless teams in the EL." Duane Below made two starts against the Yankees Class-A affiliate Tampa in 2009. He was 1-1 with a 3.12 ERA in those two starts.
