ENTERING TODAY'S ACTION... Today, the SeaWolves take on the Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates) in the rubber game of a three-game series at Blair County Ballpark. Last night, Altoona used a six-run second inning and held on to beat the âWolves 9-7. The loss snapped Erie's seven-game road winning streak and four-game winning streak against the Curve. Erie needs a win today to avoid dropping its first series to the Curve. Erie is 2-0 in series against Altoona and the Howlers have not lost a series since dropping the opening two series of the season to Trenton and Binghamton. The SeaWolves are 5-0-1 in their last six series...Lefty Andy Oliver takes the mound for the âWolves making his sixth start of the season and third against the Curve. Oliver is 1-0 with a no-decision in two starts against Altoona. He took a no-decision in his last start against Binghamton going 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Oliver has worked at least five innings in each of his last four starts...Lefty Rudy Owens takes the mound for Altoona making his sixth start and third against Erie. Ownes is 1-0 with a no-decision in his previous two starts against Erie. He picked up a win in his last start at Richmond going six hitless innings with a walk and 11 strikeouts. Owens has won three straight...The SeaWolves will head home for three games this week against Akron before going on an eight-day, seven game road trip to Bowie and Richmond. The âWolves are two-games under .500 on the road.
