Thunder Hit Their Way to Series Sweep

Trenton, NJ- For the second time this week, the Thunder lineup was able to score at least 15 runs in a game, and they rolled to a 15-3 victory over the Bowie BaySox on Sunday at Waterfront Park. With the win, the Thunder improve to 15-15 on the season.

Thunder RHP DJ Mitchell (3-2) ran into trouble to start off the game. He gave up back-to-back singles to Jonathan Tucker and Ryan Adams, and after striking out Tyler Henson, surrendered a two-run double down the right field line to give Bowie a 2-0 lead.

Trenton came back to score two runs themselves, first by plating home Daniel Brewer on a triple hit by David Adams, and then on a ground ball hit by Brandon Laird to score Adams from third. Another run for the Thunder came around to score in the third inning to give Trenton the lead 3-2.

In the fifth inning, Trenton had runners are the corners with two outs when Daniel Brewer brought everyone home on a three-run home run to left field to increase the Thunder lead to 6-2.

The Thunder would ultimately run away with the game in the sixth inning by scoring nine runs off Bowie pitchers Zach Britton (2-3) and Jim Hoey. The inning was highlighted by doubles from Marcos Vechionacci and David Adams.

Mitchell settled down after the first inning, and allowed just two hits going forward. He tossed six innings in total, striking out six and walking one.

David Adams finished the day 4-for-5.

The Thunder travel to New Britain, Connecticut Monday night to take over the New Britain Rock Cats. RHP Ryan Pope makes the start for Trenton, while RHP Dave Bromberg goes for the Rock Cats. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM.
